Hypertrophic Gastritis with Giant Folds
(Menetrier Disease)
(T.A., m., 44 ani / years old)
 
 Clinical Manifestations: patient admitted for epigastric pain, inappetence for meat, morning vomiting and weight loss.
La internare: dureri epigastrice, inapetență pentru carne, vărsături matinale, pierdere ponderală.
 Barium Contrast Radiography: several homogenous filling-defects, located mainly in the vertical part of the stomach, towards the greater curvature.
Tranzit baritat: imagini lacunare, multiple, uniforme, predominante în stomacul vertical, spre marea curbură.
 Surgical Specimen: ( operation- total gastrectomy) massive hypertrophy and giant gastric folds within the proximal stomach( the greater curvature). The resected stomach weighs 1750g.
Piesa operatorie (gastrectomie totală): hipertrofie masivă a zonei marii curburi, cu pliuri uriașe ale mucoasei. Greutatea stomacului rezecat: 1750 gr.
Postoperative Radiography: esojejunostomy with a “omega” jejunal loop , stricture of the afferent loop and Braun fistula.
Radiografie postoperatorie: esojejuno anastomoză pe ansă în "omega" cu stricțiunea aferentei și fistulă Braun.
Histopathological Exam: massive glandular hyperplasia with monstrous cystic dilatations and muscular atrophy of the gastric wall.
Examen histologic: hiperplazie glandulară, intensă cu dilatații chistice monstruoase și atrofia fasciculelor musculare din peretele gastric.
